To create a gasket, die cutters are used since they are most likely thin and flat. C02 lasers and the traditional cookie cutter method are mostly used when making gaskets.
Many different materials can be used when making gaskets such as rubber, silicone, neoprene, Viton, nitrile, foam, fiber, felt, plastic, cork, and sponge. Each kind of gasket serves a unique purpose which means they have different thicknesses, colors, weights, and life spans. Each should be treated and made to their specific application. Some may require different coatings for protection against heat or other substances, and others my need adhesive backing.
